Well it's been awhile since I've been here. I apologize.
A few days after my last post, my dad passed away. It was sudden and unexpected. It also took priority. Dealing with the estate and probate, finances, arrangements and his last wishes, not to mention emotional toll, has taken some time. It's been about 3 months and there is still a sense of disbelief, but much less chaos. Suddenly assuming someone's personal and financial life and responsibilities can be one hell of a stresser. But things are pretty smooth now. My pop left enough directions and resources to handle everything.
In the meantime we have gotten the van back with our UVL (under vehicle lift) Everything works great! Check out the video! https://youtu.be/wWaI580yMm8
One of the best things about the lift is I can leave it deployed on the ground and still close and lock the doors! This has been handy when there is no ''blue spot'' and I take two regular parking spots. If the wheelchair lift is retracted and stowed away, other drivers have no idea I need the space to enter and exit the van. So I will leave it out, on the ground, and nobody can park in the spot next to me. It works great. Even other drivers are impressed and have complimented the idea.
The power seat and hand controls are also working out great! We have done 2 short trips and it was awkward at first but it's easy-peezy now. Just like everything else in life. ;-) Videos on all of it are on the way.
Remember, no matter what life throws at you ... Just roll with it!

I am very sorry to hear about your Dad, Derec. I can sympathize with you on all counts. My Dad died last Oct. The end of life details were extremely stressful.
I also live in Bakersfield and am excited to see your pics of the Lake Ming/Hart Park area. It's good to know somebody local that has already gone through their build.......of which I'm presently in the middle of, and come out the other side!
Best of luck in your adventures, maybe I will run into you two someday.
Great update, cool to get the behind the scenes info. Love how leaving the lift out enables you to have more parking flexibility. Continuing to keep you in prayers and thoughts for the transition of your dad. ❤️
